What if you believed, truly and deeply, that you’re enough just as you are?

Remember how Bridget Jones buys a diary to record her struggling, “singleton” life? I know I secretly cheered when the dreamy Mark Darcy tells Bridget, “I like you very much. Just as you are.”

The immense popularity of Bridget Jones’s Diary seemed to tickle our funny bones and tap into something we all want: to be liked or loved just as we are. Spoiler alert, in author Helen Fielding’s 2013 book Mad About the Boy , we learn that Mark Darcy is dead, leaving Bridget on her own to raise their children. How’s that for reality check!

Deborah Ivanoff wants you to know that you needn’t wait for Mark Darcy–or anyone–to tell you that you’re enough. She wants you to believe you know, do, and are enough right now .

HTMMGSHworkbook Based in Portland, Oregon, Deborah’s business is called “ The Being Coach .” She teaches go-getters how to get more clarity, more confidence, and more momentum so that they can reach their goals sooner. A master certified coach, mediator and facilitator, Ivanoff works with clients on aligning their “inner game” with their “outer actions.”

With her daughter Abigail, Deborah’s book How To Make More Good Stuff Happen , a Play-Work-Book , is written for tweens and teens to help them more deliberately create the life they want. Adults, Deborah says, can benefit from the book’s inner game/outer action approach too.

“I want women to know that they’re already doing enough, they already know enough, they are enough, right now.” – Deborah Ivanoff

  1. What’s the most courageous decision you’ve made?

I think I’ve made many courageous decisions. I’m a bit of a pioneer that way. But the most courageous decision, perhaps, I’ve ever made was to fire my attorney and represent myself to get custody of my children, despite hearing from everyone in my life, including my own strategist, that it just wasn’t possible.

  1. What choices are most important to you?

I choose for the individual. I believe in the beauty and value of honoring differences; be it in learning style, culture, preferences, interests, even personality. This can be a challenging choice; I find most of us want to find what we have in common with others. I like to see what makes a person unique.

The choices I have made that have been the most important to me are those involving my children and my business. I value independence and wholeness. I chose homebirth, homeschool, my own business, and a loving circle of “family of choice”.

  1. What fears have you conquered?

I think I’ve conquered the fears of being alone, being lonely. I think I’ve conquered the fear of being broke, of not knowing what to do.

  1. What conversation made the most impact on you?

When I was in a very tender, frightened place; I experienced another woman I went to for advice, as very harsh and critical. Choosing to look beyond her words, to her own fear, staying present and choosing not to defend or fight but to be curious about what wisdom I could receive through her, not just her opinion of me and my choices; ultimately, proved a very empowering experience that brought huge clarity, insight, and reward.

  1. What do you want women to get clear about?

I want women to know that they’re already doing enough, they already know enough, they are enough, right now. I want to see them living life, connected to the Wisdom within them that has the power to assist them in having what they most want.
